Weekends are best when they include Great and Random Things. Things that make me laugh, smile or blush all over on the inside. In no particular order they are as follows for this weekend:
10. Watching Kitty Figz try to balance in a sunbeam on the ledge above my bed. She gets up there, starts to roll around in ecstasy and PLOP! Lands on my pillow time and time again.
9. Drinking blueberry vodka with Jim at Shaney's Birthday BBQ Bash and then attempting to play darts. I rarely play, he was rusty, and we kept taking breaks to have two little blond girls, Holly and Lily, play with us. I did win a few. I laughed a lot.
8. Buying Gong-Fu playing cards at Archie McPhee and then reading through all the kung-fu maneuvers back at home. "Green Dragon rolling over to crouch in the hand?" A priceless move designed to stop your poker opponents and ninja foes in their tracks!
7. Going to Babeland, a sex shop for women, on Gay Pride Weekend. I got the best service ever. EVER. BTW, I was just there to read the articles.
6. Sleeping in with Jim on Sunday morning. Like a lazy kitty, I could not get out of bed. Purrrrrr.
5. A rousing game of Scrabble with Jim that I won because he gave me the word, "Managed" that was built between two other existing words. AWESOME! Never used all my tiles at one go though.
4. Waking up on Sunday morning with an epiphany about my next half-sleeve tattoo with only a handful of hours to gather examples before the art consultation appointment. I was going about it all wrong. Big soft poppies, magnolias, sparrows, and vines, all done in art nouveau style is what I need. I think I have enough examples now.
3. Martinis with Jim at the Met Grill on Friday after work. Dirty, salty martinis and a good emotional talk. Outpouring really. Now I know how he really feels and I feel like singing. Or skipping, but I may be a little old for that.
2. Hearing Matt greet his brother and VERY pregnant sister-in-law at the BBQ with this gem: "How are your wife and my baby?" I almost spit out my drink into the fire pit. Mr. West is one smooth criminal.
1. Looking forward to doing it all over again next weekend. And the next weekend. And the one after that, too.
you're never too old to skip.
